Mor Mu Dong is famous for its local food. Many Thai travellers from different parts of Thailand love to go here for its authentic Phuketian dishes. One dish people are most excited about is a Pla Tu Yud Sai: mackerel stuffed with its own meat mixed with curry, a very complex dish to prepare. The fish meat has to be carefully removed from the skin, then blended with a homemade Thai red curry. This mixture is then stuffed back to the fish and will be cooked later on. It is so well prepared that the fish looks intact when served!

The restaurant is located along the Mu Dong Canal in Chalong District. It is difficult to explain how to get there, and you will need Google Maps to find it. Although the restaurant’s capacity is around 200 seats, it’s very private and has a good atmosphere. Mor Mu Dong is set in wooden bamboo salas, and with their authentic local food, it’s a bit like visiting your grandparents who will cook for you.

Awful Service & Hygine

We had the worst experience at this restaurant. I can’t recall being insulted at a restaurant before. We travel all over the world and have never experienced such as service. Awful customer service with very rude staff, very low hygiene, and the food quality is nothing special compared to other amazing restaurants in Phuket. I have been visiting Phuket for years and am usually not very picky when it comes to restaurants as I try to have an open mind and accept cultural differences. However, this place was so bad that I am thinking to report them to relevant tourism and health authorities.
