Baan Ar-Jor (meaning Great Grandparent’s Home) is a non-profit museum in a 3-story-8-room-heritage-resort mansion built in 1936 by a Chinese tin-mining businessman, Tan Jin Nugn. The mansion went through world war II only a few years back after being finished and was a safe nest and kitchen for Mai Khao communities till the war was over.

In 2016, after being closed for 37 years, 4th generation of the family started to renovate the house. It opened as a living museum in late 2019. The mansion and its detailed interior illustrates BABA or Phuket Peranakan lifestyle (Chinese immigrants married with locals from Phuket) and indulge cultural richness.

The peony mural painting in the lobby is unique and stunning. The owner himself will guide visitors around impressive family stories and valuable vintage photo collections. The wedding room on the top floor would allow you to get a glimpse of being very thrilled on the wedding day.

The entry fee is 200 Baht per person and is used to provide educational opportunities for young students at Baan Mai Khao School. Come and experience how beautiful life was in 1936 at Baan Ar-Jor Museum Home!
